Abstract

This study was aimed to study the aquaria construction and their application in Malaysia. To support this research the construction and maintenance of aquaria, the Underwater World Langkawi, Malaysia have been taken as a case study. The aquaria of Underwater Langkawi are located at Langkawi Island, Malaysia. This island is located at the North Peninsular, Malaysia. The 1st phase of building was done on 1995 and for the 2nd phase was done on 2005. This research is analyze in detail their construction and maintenance. In general the basic types of aquaria are divided by two. This type will be known by the uses of aquaria such as fresh water aquaria and salt water aquaria. The analyze were made from the literature review, for example from the article, reference from text book, aquaria construction and maintenance journal, printed articles, information from the site of aquaria Underwater World Langkawi Malaysia and also information gathering from internet web sites. This study also highlighted the problems encountering during the construction stage of the aquaria Underwater World Langkawi, Malaysia. The analyze were made from the interview and site visit. Addition, this research also focus on the analyze the maintenance work that was been taken into this aquaria structure and building.
