Abstract

Pictures are one of the teaching aids that have been suggested to be an effective source, which can help students improve their performance in English. The general aim of this study is therefore to investigate the effectiveness of pictures used in learning English among the primary school students. Therefore, this study is mainly focused on the Year 2 students because as young learners, they are more attracted to colourful pictures.

This study is also done to help the primary school teachers get a clear picture of how effective pictures can be used as teaching material in an English Language classrooms. The instrumentation used is questionnaires which are given to both selected teachers and students to investigate their perception towards the use of pictures as teaching materials in the classroom. The experiments are also given to the students to measure the effectiveness of the pictures used in the lessons.
